Barren County officials have issued a countywide burn ban effective immediately because of dry conditions and an increased risk of wildfires.
The order prohibits all outdoor burning while the ban is in place.
According to county officials, the restriction applies to brush and debris burning, trash burning, open fires and any other outdoor burning that could lead to an uncontrolled fire.
They say even a small fire can quickly spread when vegetation is dry.
Authorities warn that a single spark can threaten homes, property, farmland and wooded areas, while placing volunteer firefighters and emergency responders at unnecessary risk.
