Cave City police say a local man has been indicted on multiple felony charges in connection with three March burglaries, including Pokémon cards.
According to an indictment, 35-year-old Eric Kacey Hillirech of Cave City is accused in a series of residential break-ins that began March 15 and continued through late March.
The grand jury charges that on March 15, 2026, Hillirech committed second-degree burglary by knowingly entering or remaining unlawfully in a residence in Barren County with the intent to commit a crime. He is accused of theft by unlawful taking of property valued at $1,000 or more but less than $10,000, including hunting knives, Nike shoes, Pokémon trading cards and other items, according to the indictment.
The indictment also alleges first-degree criminal mischief on March 15, saying Hillirech is accused of intentionally or wantonly damaging property and causing a loss of $500 or more.
On March 25, 2026, Hillirech is again charged with second-degree burglary, accused of entering another residence in Barren County with the intent to commit a crime. The grand jury further alleges theft by unlawful taking of between $1,000 and $10,000 that day, listing items such as battery chargers, drill batteries, construction tools and other property.
He is also charged with second-degree criminal mischief for allegedly causing less than $500 in damage on March 25.
On March 29, 2026, Hillirech is charged with a third count of second-degree burglary in Barren County, again accused of unlawfully entering a residence with the intent to commit a crime. The indictment says that on that date he allegedly stole a donation box and jewelry valued at $1,000 or more but less than $10,000 and caused more than $500 in damage to a front door and security lights, leading to an additional count of first-degree criminal mischief.
Hillirech is also charged with first-degree persistent felony offender, noting he is more than 21 and has previous felony convictions, which could enhance potential penalties if he is convicted in this case.
Cave City police say they presented the case to the grand jury and obtained an indictment warrant for Hillirech. He was indicted last week by the grand jury
Officers reported spotting him riding a bicycle around South Dixie Highway and took him into custody Sunday.
Hillirech is being held at the Barren County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond.
He has a court appearance scheduled for next week.
An indictment is a formal criminal charge issued by the grand jury. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
