Cave City council members are set to discuss the city’s 2026 real property tax rate at Monday’s meeting.
According to the agenda, council members are expected to talk about the proposed rate and could vote on a first reading, which is a key step before any final adoption.
The meeting will also feature financial updates tied to tourism-related taxes.
July restaurant tax collections are listed at $58,115.40, and transient room tax collections are reported at $1,207.10.
The agenda notes the room tax total reflects an overpayment of $27,113.92 from the previous month.
A total of $59,322.50 is set to be transferred from those restaurant and room tax revenues to the Cave City Tourism Commission.
Council members will also receive a cash analysis for July covering specific city accounts.
That report lists $10,071 in savings for the Police Department and $31,034 in checking for the Fire Department, according to the agenda.
Beyond finances and the 2026 property tax discussion, the agenda calls for a series of department activity reports.
Scheduled presenters include BRADD representative Matt Pedigo, Fire Chief Kevin Jandt, Police Chief Paul Reynolds and code enforcement staff member Karisa Waddle.
The council is also set to hear other reports, including City Council committee updates, which typically provide information on ongoing projects and city initiatives.
Any decision on the property tax rate Monday would be an initial step, and the council would still need to complete its full approval process before a new rate could take effect.
