The Barren County Fiscal Court has been awarded $250,000 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to upgrade the Barren County Soccer Complex.
The funding will be used to build parking lots and install lighting at the complex, according to the memorandum of agreement.
The complex is used by soccer programs from Glasgow schools and Barren County schools, giving student athletes and families a central location for practices and games.
The initial agreement for the project is effective from Aug. 30, 2026, through July 7, 2029.
The Land and Water Conservation Fund is a federal program that supports outdoor recreation projects, and the Barren County award is intended to improve access and safety at the soccer facility.
County leaders have not yet released a detailed construction schedule or information on any local matching funds that might be required.
Once work begins, new parking areas are expected to ease congestion during busy game nights, while upgraded lighting should allow for more evening practices and matches.
