A safety and efficiency project along KY 90 Happy Valley Road in Barren County continues as crews work to upgrade a key stretch of the corridor.

According to transportation officials, the project spans about nine miles between Sanders Street, at mile point 0.2, and the U.S. 68 Veterans Outer Loop, around mile point 8.5. The work is designed to enhance safety and improve traffic flow along the busy route. The project includes adding alternating passing lanes and new turn lanes at different locations along KY 90.

Transportation officials say those changes are intended to make it easier and safer for drivers to pass slower vehicles and to turn on and off the road. In addition to the lane work, crews are making drainage improvements in spots to help manage water along the roadway. Guardrail work, shoulder improvements and passing lane extensions are also part of the project, along with vegetation trimming to improve visibility.

Officials say those upgrades, taken together, are expected to reduce crash risks and ease congestion for drivers who rely on KY 90 in Barren County. The project is expected to be completed later this year, though officials have not released a specific date. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert in the work zone, watch for crews and equipment, and be prepared for changing traffic patterns as construction continues.
