400 Mile Yard Sale brings shoppers, business boost to Barren County

Jun 4, 2026 | 12:08 PM

Shoppers are once again lining the U.S. 68 corridor as the annual 400 Mile Yard Sale returns to Kentucky, bringing extra traffic and business to Glasgow and Barren County.

The event runs June 4-7, and is promoted by the 400 Mile Sale Association. According to organizers, Barren County is one of 19 Kentucky counties taking part in the sale, which stretches across the state along and near U.S. 68 from western Kentucky to the northeast.

The multi-day event draws thousands of bargain hunters each year, as visitors travel from across the region to search for deals. Along the route, roadsides and parking lots turn into long lines of yard sales and vendor setups.

In south central Kentucky, the route includes Barren, Metcalfe, Green, and Warren counties. In Glasgow, vendors can be found at homes, businesses, parking lots, and other designated sale locations throughout the community.

The annual sale is seen as an economic boost for the area, bringing new customers to restaurants, stores, gas stations, and lodging. Residents also use the sale as a chance to earn extra income and connect with travelers passing through Glasgow and the surrounding counties.

Vendors typically operate during daylight hours over the four days of the event. However, hours can vary by location and individual seller, so shoppers are encouraged to plan for changing schedules along the route. The sale offers a mix of traditional yard sale items, antiques, collectibles, and unique finds that have helped make the 400 Mile Yard Sale a recurring regional draw.

For many communities along U.S. 68, including Glasgow, the event has become a yearly tradition that combines commerce, tourism, and neighbor-to-neighbor interaction.

Motorists should also allow extra time for travel along U.S. 68 during the June 4 through 7 event due to increased roadside activity and traffic.
