Nathan Peters has been named as the new director of transportation for Barren County Schools.

With nearly two decades of experience working in education, Peters most recently served as the assistant principal at Glasgow Middle School. Prior to working for Glasgow Independent Schools, he spent 13 years with Barren County Schools as a physical education teacher at Temple Hill Elementary and the Trojan Academy.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to come back to Barren County Schools,” Peters said in a press release. “This district has always meant a great deal to me.

“I look forward to supporting our drivers, staff, students, and families and continuing the strong tradition of care and service that our transportation department is known for.”

Superintendent Amy Irwin said the school district is excited to welcome Peters back to Barren County.

“He is a respected educator and leader who understands the importance of student safety, strong relationships, and teamwork,” Irwin said in the press release. “We are confident he will do an outstanding job leading our transportation department.”

Peters will begin his new role this summer.

According to the press release, Peters has focused on “building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while creating supportive and positive school environments.”

“His background in leadership, communication, and team building will serve him well as he leads the district’s transportation department,” the press release states.

Peters said he is honored to return to Barren County Schools and looks forward to serving students and families in a new way.
