One local player remains alive in the Region 4 tennis tournaments.
Barren County’s Addyson McFall competes in the semifinals of the girls’ tournament Thursday at 6 p.m. at Greenwood. McFall beat Lela Owsley of South Warren, 6-4, 6-0, on Wednesday to advance in the tournament.
McFall opened the event with 6-0, 6-0, win over Isabelle Kerr, then downed Kaitlynn Howard of Metcalfe County, 6-1, 6-0, to reach the quarterfinal match with Owsley.
Taylor Uhles of Barren won her first-round match 6-2, 6-2, and advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Uhles lost to Madison Sherrod 1-6, 0-6, in the quarters.
In girls’ doubles, Barren’s Aleigha Nuetzman and Lauren Neville won their first round match 6-1, 6-3, then lost in the second round 2-6, 1-6. Meanwhile, Brooklyn Wright and Avery Norris lost their first-round match 6-4, 0-6, 0-1.
For Glasgow in singles, Jamesanna Soto won her first round match 6-2, 6-2, but lost in the second round to Sherrod, 1-6, 1-6. Jadie Stahl lost her first round match 1-6, 0-6.
In doubles, Korah Jones and Audra Austin teamed to win their first round match 7-5, 1-6, 1-0, but lost in the second round 4-6, 2-4. Zoey Johns and Diya Nair lost in the first round, 0-6, 0-6.
The boys’ Region 4 is also being played this week.
Barren County’s Hayden Coomer reached the quarterfinals before being knocked out by Ethan Propp of South Warren, 0-6, 0-6. Coomer had a first round bye, then won in round two, 0-6, 6-3, 1-0.
Mavric Payne fell in the first round, 6-1, 6-2, in singles.
In doubles, Kaden Rush and Cade Prichard lost in the first round, 1-6, 1-6, while Austin Emerson and Dalton Hicks lost 1-6, 1-6, in the first round.
For Glasgow, Hudson Woodie and Kasan Peter had a first-round bye. They lost in the second round 3-6, 6-3, 0-1. Also, Ian Parocai and Trace Brooking fell in the first round 6-1, 6-1.
In singles, Jackson Barrick won in the first round 5-7, 7-6, 1-0, but lost in round two, 1-6, 4-6.
