The Kentucky General Assembly members made their disapproval of Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Kelly Thompson’s actions publicly known last week through a resolution censuring the Bowling Green judge.

Both the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate approved censure resolutions on the final day of the session, stemming from the Supreme Court’s 5-1 ruling that halted impeachment proceeding against Fayette Circuit Judge Julie Goodman, according to the Kentucky Lantern.

The resolutions stated that the court did not have the authority to limit the legislature’s power to impeach and that the ruling amounted to judicial overreach, according to outside reporting.

A censure does not have any repercussions aside from a public reprimand.
