A Barren County man recently pleaded guilty to multiple sexual felonies and could be facing up to 22 years in jail.

Thirty-three-year-old Kyle Ankney, who was indicted by a Barren County grand jury on first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and incest charges, entered into a guilty plea on March 25, according to court records filed with the Barren County Circuit Court. All three of Ankney’s charges were against a minor under 12 years old and labeled with a continuous course of conduct tag, signifying the crimes occurred more than once.

The commonwealth recommended a 22 year sentence, a $1,000 fine, 5 years of “conditional discharge,” and that Ankney undergoes a “sexual offender risk assessment,” according to his guilty plea. Ankney’s sentencing is scheduled for June 24 at 9 a.m. He will remain in custody until then, according to the plea.

Ankney was arrested on July 9, 2025 at the Barren County Courthouse by sheriff’s deputies after the minor was interviewed by the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center. The minor said that Ankney had sexually abused the minor for approximately five months “at or near” a residence in southern Barren County, according to his uniform citation.

He was indicted by a grand jury in August 2025.
