Glasgow played a pair of games Tuesday in Florida. In the early game, the Scotties fell behind early in an 11-2 loss to Cooper. They won the late game against Western Hills, 4-1.
The Jaguars scored three runs in the first inning and added two more in the second, and never trailed.
The Scotties’ two runs came in the top of the fifth inning. JP Pitcock drew a one-out walk. Then scored after Garett Shields hit a single, that turned into a throwing error. Shields moved to third on the play.
Shields scored on a sacrifice fly by Huston Haynes.
Braylen Caldwell, Shields and Huston Haynes combined on the mound to give up nine hits, strike out six and walk four.
At the plate Garrett, Keaton Haynes and Shields each had a hit.
GLASGOW 4, WESTERN HILLS 1
In the late game Tuesday, the Scotties scored all four of their runs in the top of the third inning.
Shields started things with a one-out single. Huston Haynes was next hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second. Garrett followed with a single that loaded the bases.
Shields scored on a sacrifice fly by Hudson Gumm. Keaton Haynes followed with a two-out double that drove in Huston Haynes and Rashad Ethridge, who was running for Garrett.
Then Carter Hodges slapped a double that scored Keaton Haynes.
Hodges pitched a one-hitter and struck out 11 in seven innings. He also walked five.
Glasgow posted 10 hits in the game. Hodges and Landon Martin each had two. Hodges nailed two doubles, while Keaton Haynes and Thomas Glass each slapped a double.
The Scotties improved to 9-6 overall. They return to action against Bethlehem Christian Academy, Georgia, at 9 a.m. Thursday. They face Muhlenberg County at noon Thursday. Both games in Fort Walton Beach.
