Several students within the Barren County school district recently won awards at the elementary state Beta convention.
North Jackson Elementary took top honors in the Quiz Bowl, Book Battle and Performing Arts Instrumentalist competitions. Grayson Barrett won first in fifth-grade science, while Gracelyn McIntyre placed second in Black and White Photography. Davis Cook took fourth place in fifth-grade social studies and the school finished fifth in Songfest.
Hiseville Elementary finished second in the Performing Arts Vocalist category, while singer Lyric Clines was named a premier performer.
Red Cross Elementary’s Enslee Widau took second in On-site Art Drawing, and Ellie Curd placed fourth in Speech. Red Cross placed second in the Performing Arts — Solo, Duo, Trio Dancer category, while Eastern Elementary finished in third.
Eastern’s Laney Wilson and Austin Tracy’s Elaina Sanders were named premier performers in the Dancer category.
Park City Elementary’s Mia Basham placed third in Sculpture.
