Med Center Health is inviting high school students in Barren County to explore careers in health care through its 2026 Summer Teen Ambassador Program.

Applications are open to all high schoolers, including 2026 graduating seniors, for the program that runs from June 15 through July 24 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The deadline to apply is April 30 at 5 p.m.

The Summer Teen Ambassador Program is designed to give students hands-on exposure to the health care environment through a mix of volunteer work and job shadowing. Participants are organized into groups and rotate through various hospital departments, learning from both clinical and administrative professionals, according to a Med Center Health press release.

Community Wellness Director Sarah Widener said the program is intended to help students see the full range of career paths in health care.

“This program allows students to work alongside health care professionals in different departments, gaining a deeper understanding of the career paths available in health care,” Widener said. “Students will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience and meet a variety of professionals across a wide range of roles.”

Students who are accepted into the program are expected to volunteer at least one shift per week during the program’s six-week schedule.
