Numerous people were honored by Community Partners for Recovery during the annual Epic Awards at the Cave Area Conference Center over the weekend.

Libby Short, Christie Wall and AK Murrey founded the nonprofit in Barren County in 2024 with the aim of addressing the local need for addiction recovery while reducing the attached stigma. As a fundraiser for Community Partners for Recovery, seven awards were presented: the Faith in Action, the Community Head Coach, the Hometown Community Connector Award, the Resilience Award, the Paving the Way Award and the Donkey Award.

The entire Barren Inc. Lead Forward Class received the Impact All Star Award for civic responsibility.

Rondal Buford, who was described as a true community servant for helping folks whenever there is a need, received the Good Faith Award.

The Community Leadership award recipient was Cave City Mayor Dwayne Hatcher for his dedication to the community.

WCLU’s Todd Steenbergen was awarded the Hometown Community Connector Award.

Stacy Gordon, lead Recovery Coach for CPR, received the Resilience Award.

Larry and Charlotte Glass were honored with the “Paving the Way” award for their leadership and problem solving.

Paul Grider, who is a member of the CPR Board, was honored with “The Donkey Award.” This award was named as a reference to a sermon he preached as pastor of The Way Church in Horse Cave that was titled “Be the Donkey.”
