Glasgow’s historic Plaza Theatre is preparing for a full slate of concerts and performances designed to draw crowds to the downtown area, according to Plaza board member Cody Meek.

Meek appeared on WCLU’s Coffee and Conversation segment to highlight several upcoming attractions and to emphasize how the theater’s events can benefit nearby restaurants and nightlife spots. He said performers often praise the Plaza’s acoustics and that it is one of the region’s favorite rooms to play.

The closest event on the calendar is Ultimate Rewind, a large cover band that Meek said features about eight or nine members. The group specializes in what he described as “other people’s music” from the 1950s through the 1980s, focusing on pop and rock hits that many concertgoers recognize. The family-friendly show is scheduled for this Saturday at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. Meek encouraged families to bring children, saying younger audiences are often surprised by how much they enjoy the music their parents and grandparents grew up with.

Looking ahead, Meek said country artist Chris Janson is scheduled to return to the Plaza on March 28 as part of his Wild Horses Untamed Tour. Meek said tickets for the show went on sale last week and remain available. Janson is known for songs including “Buy Me a Boat,” “Good Vibes,” “Fix a Drink” and “All I Need Is You,” and Meek noted that he has been recognized with songwriter awards and plays more than 10 instruments. The March concert is expected to include special guest Joe Lasher.

The Plaza is also working with the Far Off Broadway Players on a stage production of Jane Austen’s “Lady Susan.” According to Meek, that show is scheduled for multiple dates in early March, including evening performances and a Sunday matinee. He also referenced promotions indicating a second Saturday performance, suggesting a larger production run than usual for the local troupe. Representatives from Far Off Broadway are expected to share more details in a future segment.
