At a special-called meeting of the Park City Commission on Monday, members codified pay raises for both the office of mayor and the position of commissioner. Originally approved last year at the commission’s September meeting, the raises had never been formally introduced as a city ordinance.
The changes will increase the mayor’s salary from $8,000 per year to $16,000, while commissioners will receive $100 per meeting instead of the current $25.
“These raises will not take effect until January of 2027, when the new mayor, whether it be me or somebody else, is elected,” Mayor Donna Scavo said. “We just wanted to get this in an ordinance and on the books to keep everything straight.”
The commissioner raise will likewise will begin after this year’s election.
“Neither of these raises are really for us,” added Commissioner Angelo Scavo. “They’re for whoever will be coming in.”
Both ordinances passed with minimal discussion.
The commission also approved to change its regular meeting time from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Park City Commission’s next regular meeting is scheduled for March 2.
