Preliminary hearing set in Glasgow rape case

A Glasgow man arrested by police on various sexual charges had his case set for a district court preliminary hearing.

Nineteen-year-old Anthony Lane Lynch appeared for an arraignment in Barren County District Court on Jan. 29 wherein judge Gabe Pendleton set a preliminary hearing for Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. He has a $50,000 cash bond, according to the Barren County Detention Center.

He was arrested on Jan. 28 by Glasgow police. He is charged with five counts of second-degree rape (no force), seven counts of second-degree sexual abuse, seven first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor counts, and two second-degree sodomy counts, according to Lynch’s court records.

The charges stem from the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old, which was allegedly confirmed by Lynch during a Glasgow police interview, according to his uniform citation that is filed in Lynch’s court records. The investigation is ongoing, according to the citation.
