Farmers RECC and the Glasgow Electric Plant Board crews are working to restore power in Glasgow and Barren County.

Over night ice accumulation caused outages. Caralyne Pennington, director of public communications at Farmers RECC, said it was a combination of ice on utility lines and down trees.

Farmers RECC announced approximately 3,400 outages in Barren County.  Pennington told Glasgow News 1 that repairs are slow as crews deal with adverse conditions, like the slick roads, cold temperatures and continued precipitation.

Repair crews are out, Pennington said.

“We’ve got plenty of day ahead of us,” Pennington said. “We hope to make progress throughout the day.”

Farmers RECC serves portions of eleven Kentucky counties. Adair, Barren, Edmonson, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart, Larue, Metcalfe, Monroe, and Warren counties, according to the cooperative.

Glasgow Electric Plant Board Communications Director Aaron Russell said there are roughly 50 EPB customers still without power in the Forrester Drive area. The outage was caused by a tree that fell on power lines, Russell said.

People at the EPB are also waiting to get detail on the cause of the large outage that affected 3,300 customers earlier this morning, according to Russell.
