Tennessee Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop for Traveling in Wrong Direction

(October 31, 2023) Scottsville, KY – A Tennessee man faces multiple charges following an early-morning incident in Scottsville on Sunday.

Around 1:29am, Scottsville Police Department dispatch received multiple calls about a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction and nearly causing head-on collisions on Veterans Memorial, heading from Warren County into Allen County.

Officers observed the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and on the wrong side of road, and had to move over to avoid being hit head-on near the intersection of Veterans Memorial and Burnley Road. The vehicle continued to travel in the wrong direction and ran through the traffic light at the intersection of US 231 and 31-E.

The vehicle finally came to a stop, and when officers approached, they detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver, 21-year-old Ethan A. Swanson of Gallatin, Tennessee, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first degree, aggravating circumstances; improperly driving on left side of road; reckless driving; speeding 26 miles per hour or more over the speed limit; first degree wanton endangerment; first degree wanton endangerment of a police officer; disregarding a traffic control device; first degree fleeing or evading police; and resisting arrest.

Swanson was lodged in the Allen County Detention Center.
