James E. Mills, 80, of Scottsville, KY passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Smiths Grove, KY native was a retired employee of Keystop in Smiths Grove, a member of Freedom Hill Church, former member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon and past master of the Odd Fellows Lodge #51 in Bowling Green. He was a son of the late Grover Cleveland Mills and Nettie Marie Slaughter Mills.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Carolyn Bratton Mills, Scottsville, KY;
2 sons: Bro. Russell Mills and wife, Sandy, Scottsville, KY and Alan Mills and wife, Danielle, Auburn, KY;
1 daughter: Kim Riddle and husband, Jimmy, Smiths Grove, KY;
7 grandchildren: Andrew Riddle (Ashley), Brian Riddle (Elizabeth), Jenifer Stinson; Luke Eaton (Stevie), Caden Mills, Jackson Mills and Tristin James Mills;
4 great grandchildren: Benjamin Riddle, Victoria Riddle, Hanah Dyer and Colson Eaton and 1 unborn great grandchild and
Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son: James Phillip Mills; 4 sisters and 8 brothers.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Freedom Hill Church with Bro. Russell Mills and Bro. Elvis Farley officiating and burial in the Kinser Cemetery with Bro. Smokey Smith officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday until funeral time at Freedom Hill Church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Freedom Hill Church.
