Karen Marlane Lacefield, age 73 of Taylorsville, formerly of Edmonson County, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in the comfort of her daughter’s home. The Edmonson County native was born on November 20, 1951 to the late Rev. Hershell W. and Martha Vincent Salling.
Karen Marlane retired after devoting many faithful years as a customer service representative with Dollar General and Walmart, where she greeted countless faces with her warm smile and kind spirit. She was saved when she was nine years old at Christian Home General Baptist Church, a place that remained her spiritual home for the rest of her life. Over the years, she taught Sunday School and sang the beautiful old gospel hymns she loved so dearly.
Karen Marlane found great joy in the simple, meaningful moments—stirring up batches of her famous Christmas candy, filling the kitchen with sweet holiday memories, and cheering on her favorite teams as she watched them play with enthusiasm. Her gentle heart, unwavering faith, and love for family and friends will remain cherished by all who knew her.
She leaves to honor her memory, her loving children, Shawn Knapper (Greg) of Taylorsville and Vincent Lacefield (Amanda) of Millwood; grandchildren, Sierra Knapper-Edwards (Cameron), Hope Lacefield and Nolan Lacefield; a brother, Shedrick W. “Buster” Salling (Cindy), and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Veda Salling.
