Former Glasgow resident Joe Meek passed away November 17, 2025, in Panama City Beach Florida following an extended battle with cancer. Joe, a native of Glasgow and his wife, Anita, lived and worked in Glasgow for 41 years. Glasgow and Barren County became their home in 1978, when Joe became an employee of RR Donnelley and Sons shortly after the factory opened their Glasgow location. Here they raised their daughter, Amy, worked, made friends and many memories before retiring. He retired from RR Donnelly and Sons in 2020 after working there for 41 years.
Following retirement the couple moved to Florida in 2020 to be near their daughter and her family. He loved retirement and his life in Florida. He especially loved hosting his family and friends to their home in the sunshine state.
A private memorial , as requested by Joe is being held this weekend in Florida for family and friends .a place that had brought him great peace and many memories during his final years. Anyone wishing to honor Joe may do so by making a contribution to their favorite charity in his memory or to BRAWA, in honor of Joe’s love for his late fur baby, Checker the tuxedo cat.
