Virginia Bell Nunn Strohecker, Barren County

Virginia Bell Nunn Strohecker , age  99 died Tuesday,  November  11, 2025.

She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Edwin Strohecker and their son, Edwin Jr., as well as her four brothers, Lee R Nunn, J Gordon Nunn, Carl R Nunn and Louie B. Nunn.

Virginia was born on September 8, 1926, a daughter of Waller H. and Mary Roberts Nunn in Park, Barren County, Kentucky. She graduated from Bowling Green Business University in 1944 and had a long career as a secretary for state government and legal firms in Louisville. In 1967, she was named Appointment Secretary for then Governor Louie B. Nunn and followed that as secretary to US District Judge Charles M. Allen. Following a move to Murray, Ky. where her husband was named Dean of Libraries at Murray State University, she was named a Regent on the Board of Directors at MSU. When her husband retired, they moved back to the Nunn home place in Barren County, where they remained until age and illness sent them back to Louisville, where they spent many happy years at Treyton Oak Towers, a senior living facility.

Virginia will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the joy she brought to all. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her!

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:30 Central time, at Cosby Methodist Church Cemetery in LeGrande, Ky., where friends and family are invited to gather. A reception will follow at the former Lee R. Nunn home at 2741Hiseville-Park Road, Cave City, KY. Arrangements are under the direction of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, Kentucky.
