Richard Farris Sneed, age 82 of Summer Shade, passed away at home in the company of his family on Friday, October 31, 2025. Richard is preceded in death by his dear departed wife, Linda Sneed. He was preceded by his parents, Paul and Mary Sneed; his granddaughter Kaitland Sneed and his brother-in-law Robert (Bobby) Bradley.
Richard was a hard working man, with endless strength, who was dedicated to providing a loving home for his family. He was a caring and compassionate man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Richard was a one-of-a-kind man, a talented artist with a big sense of humor. It was nothing for him to grab the closest napkin and draw a funny little picture. His love for hunting and fishing was often reflected in his artwork. He loved, protected, and provided for his wife faithfully for 59 years until he became a widower in 2023. Richard was a positive role model to his two sons, whom he taught to be giving and provide for their future families. After many happy years at Farmer’s Rural Electric, Richard was able to enjoy his retirement with many fond memories of his coworkers and the community. He was a dedicated and proud Mason, as well a highly involved member of the Eastern Star.
Richard Sneed is survived by his two sons and their spouses, Joey and Susan Sneed, and Robert and Jami Sneed; three grandchildren and their families, Tyler Sneed, Andrew and Megan Sneed and their daughter Adalynn, and Breana Sneed with her husband Charles Crowley and their daughter Brigid and his beloved sister Margaret Bradley.
“You are never really gone. I can hear your voice blow through the trees, I feel your laugh tugging on the fishing line, and I feel your hug in the warmth of the fire. You are never really gone, you just become something different.”
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial at Union #2 Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, November 7, 2025, and Saturday morning until the start of the service at the funeral home. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, November 7, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, Richard’s wishes were that donations be made to the Barren County Animal Shelter (BRAWA) or TJ Samson Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
