James Edward Risen, age 75 of Canmer passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025 at his home. He retired from International Harvester and was a former employee of MSD. His favorite pastime was working on cars in the garage. He loved to hunt and fish when he was able and his dogs especially his last one, Little Bit.
He was a son of the late James Albert Risen and the late Lanora Whitaker Risen.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Richard Risen.
He is survived by three children, Brian Risen (Joyce) of Magnolia, Kentucky, Carrie Thompson (Walker) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Sherri Bowlin (Jeff), Louisville, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Blake Risen (Bethany), Bryce Risen, Bailey Risen, Christian Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Ayden Thompson, Tony Cissell, and Coby Cissell; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Danny Risen (Cyndi); two sisters, Sharon Phillips and Sandy Johnston.
The family has chosen cremation and there will be a visitation held from 1:00- 5:00 PM CT on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Brooks Funeral Home.
