Mary Alice Batey, Glasgow

Mary Alice Batey, affectionately known as “Mama Mary,” passed away peacefully at her residence in Glasgow, Kentucky, on October 12, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on December 11, 1956, in Glasgow, Kentucky, she dedicated her life to her family and her career, serving as a manager at Dairy Queen in Glasgow until her retirement.
Mary was not only known for her professional dedication but also for the warmth and kindness she extended to everyone around her. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, often sharing joyous moments watching cartoons and enjoying her favorite coffee from the Creamery. Her big heart and strong faith left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her loving children, Amanda Gail Batey and Ronald Batey (Laura), both of Glasgow; her grandchildren,  Philip Batey (Ariel) of Bowling Green, Aaron Batey (Lacey) of Park City, and Cheyenne Gumm (Austin) of Edmonton; daughter-in-law, Jessica Batey of Park City;  14 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Gail Brown (Steve), Virginia Gulley, Barbara Slayton, and Martha Maupin, all of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband, Leon Batey; her son, Tony Batey; her grandchildren, Jessie Lee Batey and Tony Lee Batey Jr.; and her parents, Raymond Edward Gulley and Nelly Ree Huff Gulley; and numerous siblings.
Visitation will be held on October 17, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at A.F Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow, Kentucky. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, and she will be laid to rest at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery at 3:00 PM on the same day.
Mary Alice Batey will be deeply missed by her family and friends, remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and the strength of her character throughout her life.
