Barren County’s burn ban remains in effect for now.

Deputy Judge-Executive Garland Gilliam confirmed that the ban was still in place on Sept. 9.

Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd initially issued the ban on Aug. 28, joining the growing number of Kentucky counties that issued bans due to the “extremely dry weather.” It remains in effect “until lifted by revocation of this order after the hazardous conditions have abated,” the ban stated.

As of Sept. 8, the National Weather Service does not predict any rain for Barren County for the remainder of the week.

Thirty-one counties are under burn bans, according to the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet.
