Tena Wood Carnahan, Tompkinsville

Tena Wood Carnahan, age 60, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, died Sunday, August 10, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family. Tena was born in Tompkinsville, on October 23, 1964, a daughter of the late Willis and Ruth (Sheffield) Wood. She was a 1982 graduate of Tompkinsville High School and worked in the Monroe County School District as a childcare provider. She married Doug Carnahan in Lafayette, Tennessee on August 12, 1989. Tena enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-six years, Doug Carnahan; two sons, Dallas Carnahan and wife Hillorey and Brady Carnahan and John Gradel of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Kasey Moore and husband C.J. of LaGrange, Georgia; one sister, Vicky Barnett and husband Dwaine; one brother, Ricky Wood and Missy; five grandchildren, Wade, Jaxon and Caroline Carnahan, and Lukas and Layne Moore; father-in-law, James W. Carnahan; one niece, McKenna Bullock; one nephew, Tyler Wood; three great-nephews, Drew Davidson, Will and Alex Smith and host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Willis and Ruth Wood, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Rachel B. Carnahan, and two nieces, Megan Davidson and Morgan Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Chapel in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Brothers Josh Strong and Gene Gearlds, will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday after 8:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. at Bartley & Sons Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers: Wade Carnahan, Jaxon Carnahan, Lukas Moore, C.J. Moore, Layne Moore, Tony Bryant, and Charlie Page.

Bartley & Sons Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Carnahan and her family.
