Mrs. Carolyn (Beall) Sturgeon, age 72, of Cave City, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family. Carolyn was born on December 5, 1952, in Glasgow, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ninnon “Dek” and Marie (Strange) Poindexter. Carolyn married Melvin Sturgeon on June 10, 1969, she graduated from Hart County High School in 1970 and worked at Mammoth Cave Restaurant in her early years, until her children were born. She was a devoted wife, and caretaker of her family, and a member of the Highland United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Melvin Sturgeon, two daughters: Angel Sturgeon, Julie Craine and husband Kevin, all of Cave City. One sister, Marilyn Thompson, of Horse Cave, along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jason Andre Sturgeon, and one sister, Vangie Beall.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, with Pastors, Gina Lyons, and Scott Milby officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday morning after 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel.
