Betty Sue Stevens, born on May 19, 1952, in Edmonson County, Kentucky, passed away on July 15, 2025, at The Medical Center. She was a devoted mother and a loving wife whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her husband, Orbin Stevens; her sons, Billy Romero and Christopher Stevens; her daughter, Angelina Romero Taylor; and her sister, Linda Simmons. She was a proud grandmother to Brittany Evans, Fon Taylor, Fabian Romero, Aubrey Romero, Skyler Romero, Reese Romero, Saylor Romero, Desiree Romero, Denon Romero, Desmond Romero, Dabria Romero, Deandra Romero, Drake Romero, Kaley Proctor, Chloe Proctor, and as well as her granddaughter, Abrianna Scott. She also has 3 great-grandchildren, Vada Romero, Irie Zariah Romero, and Noah Scott. Each grandchild and great-grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she nurtured each of them with love and care.
Betty was well-known for her singing abilities, captivating audiences both on television and within her church community. Her talent was matched only by the love she shared with her family, embodying the true essence of a devoted mother and housewife. While these roles defined her life, they were by no means her only contributions; she enriched the lives of those around her with her kindness and deep passion for music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Galda Mae Glass Basham and James Albert Basham, her son Manuel Romero Jr, her daughter Stacey Romero, and her siblings Wayne Basham, LJ Basham, Eldon Basham, Billy Ray Basham, Mamie Basham, Jerlene Basham, and Jo Anne Basham. Each of these loved ones is remembered fondly, and their legacies continue to echo through the lives of those Betty leaves behind.
Betty Sue Stevens will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her spirit and love for life will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
