Jane Kehrt

Jane Kehrt, 86, of Glasgow died Saturday, July 5, 2025, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. She was born in Ezel on June 15, 1939, to the late Levi Estill Ward and the late Adeline “Addy” Day Ward.

A beloved wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend,and neighbor, Jane is known for her loyalty, love, fierce devotion to her family, and care for others. She was a faithful Christ-follower and member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church.

With her unique sense of humor, she had quick comebacks that kept you alert. She was educated at the University of Kentucky and remained an enthusiastic UK sports fan. Beyond college, she furthered her education through numerous classes and workshops from admired teachers and artists. She enjoyed challenging herself to learn many facets of art.

Jane’s legacy as an accomplished artist is celebrated with her artwork hanging in museums, galleries, businesses, nonprofits and people’s homes all across the United States. She also enjoyed teaching art to all ages. She helped her students enjoy creating and finding their unique expression. Her contributions to the art community have been profound and inspirational. Her work resonated with many, and her talent brought beauty into countless lives. She enjoyed encouraging those around her to appreciate the beauty found in various forms of artistic expression. Jane shared her love for art with everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Jane had a passion for the outdoors, animals, reading and hosting get-togethers with family and friends. She was also an artist in the kitchen, where she delighted in creating delicious meals and treats for her loved ones. She always had room for you at her table. She will be dearly missed by many.

She is preceded in death by her late husband of 60 years, Joseph “Joe” Marshall Kehrt; granddaughter, Faith Groce; five sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include her son, Joe Kehrt, and daughter, Bridget Kehrt-Groce (Bruce). She adored her grandchildren, Taylor Groce (Macy), Meghan Bingen (Jeremy), Zachary Kehrt (Lo-Han) and Maddie Casler-Cowgur (Christian), as well as her great-grandchildren, Harrison Bingen and Caleb Bingen. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews. She counted it a great blessing to be known as “Moma Jane” to special people who received her maternal encouragement, hospitality, and guidance.

The funeral service is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. and continues Tuesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jane’s honor to T.J. Samson Hospice and Crossroads Life Center.
