James I Moody, of Rhoda, Ky, was born on November 6th, 1929 and departed this world to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on June 22nd, 2025. He passed at his home surrounded by family.

James (JR) married the love of his life, Lillian Inez Moody, on October 29, 1948. They now walk together hand in hand with Jesus.

James (JR) was saved at a young age while attending Beaver Dam Church of Rhoda, and later became a member and faithful deacon at Silent Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Pig. JR spent his days as a ambulance driver, log truck driver and also had a store named Inez’s grocery in Chalybeate. He was a farmer and enjoyed gardening and raising chickens along with watching his soap operas and westerns. He loved his family and taught us so many things. He had the best stories.

He is preceded in death by his wife Inez Moody, daughter Beverly Potter, great great granddaughter Jordan Thomas, and a sister Reda Moody.

Surviving is his son in law, James Potter, four granddaughters, Jennifer Scruggs (Dewayne), Gabby Freeman, Tiffany Hughes (Mikey), and Cecily Brown (Kevin). Two grandsons, Vic Moody and Chris Potter. One sister Jeannet Grimes, and one bonus granddaughter Samantha Harris Childress. Ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

He will be missed and his teachings will be carried on.
