Wanda Lee Hoots Taylor, a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and woman of unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on April 3, 1937, in Clinton County, Kentucky, Wanda embodied the values of family, tradition, and deep-rooted faith throughout her life. She was immensely proud of her Kentucky heritage. Her family’s history in Kentucky dates back to1860, and she carried her pride in her home state with her wherever she went.
Wanda’s life was defined by the love she had for her family, her steadfast devotion to God, and the joy she found in being a grandmother. Her two grandsons, Will and Ben, were the lights of her life, filling her days with laughter, love, and purpose. She cherished every moment with them, offering them wisdom, encouragement, and boundless affection. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her actions and shaping the kindness she extended to others. As a dedicated member of Westport Road Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, she found immense comfort and strength in her community of worship.
She is survived by her loving son, Eric Taylor, his wife, Elizabeth Gibson Taylor, and her two grandsons, William and Benjamin Taylor, all of whom she held close to her heart. Wanda’s family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she took immense pride in the bonds she shared with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Gordon Hoots and Abagail Sell Hoots, her son Michael Taylor, and her ten brothers and sisters: Clifford, Vida, Waymon, Vera, Opal, Alvis, James (JR), Doris, Coline, and Harold. Wanda was the youngest of eleven siblings. Though she was the last of her siblings to pass, her presence will remain woven into the fabric of her family’s history, a legacy of strength, resilience, and unwavering love.
Her final resting place will be at Rose of Sharon Church Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky, where she will be reunited with 18 of her relatives spanning over 170 years. Wanda’s journey on this earth was one of faith, dedication, and immeasurable love for those closest to her. She left behind a legacy rich in values, deep connections, and an enduring spirit that will continue to shine through future generations.
Wanda will be remembered for her devotion, wisdom, and quiet strength. Her family and friends will hold her memory close, finding solace in the love she so freely gave and the unwavering faith that guided her every step.
Funeral Service: Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main St., Burkesville, KY with burial to follow at Rose of Sharon Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1st from 12 Noon until time for the service at 2:00 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home
