Oren E. Poteet

May 29, 2025 | 12:52 PM

Oren E. Poteet, age 83 of Wingfield, departed this life at his residence with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The Edmonson County native was born on November 5, 1941 to the late Nadene Cobb and Samuel Junior Poteet. He was married to his devoted wife and help mate of over sixty years, Bettie Ann Poteet, until she was called to her eternal home on September 3, 2021.

After dedicating 35 years to DESA International, Oren retired and embraced life on his farm. In his later years, he found joy in tending to his garden and fishing in the pond. When his beloved wife passed away, he was baptized and joined himself with the loving church family at Shadyland Church of Christ. Oren was welcomed with open arms, and remained a member there until his death.

He leaves to honor his memory— his children, Bobby Poteet (Kim) and Penny Poteet, all of Wingfield; a brother, L.D. Poteet of Rough River, along with several nieces, nephews, cherished friends and extended family members. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Reda Sullivan and Eddith Sullivan.

The interment will be in the Boiling Springs Church of Christ Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to: Hospice of Southern Kentucky or the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society.
