Twana Ann Finley Mearna

May 9, 2025 | 10:24 AM

Twana Ann Finley Mearna, 48, passed away on April 28th, 2025, at her son Alex’s home in Indianapolis, surrounded by love. A powerful, compassionate woman, Twana lived a life as bold and expansive as her spirit. Twana was the definition of adventure. She jumped from planes, soared through the skies parasailing, raced down ski slopes, and never said no to a roller coaster. Her courage wasn’t limited to adrenaline-it showed in every part of her life. A devoted single mother of three, Twana balanced work, school, and parenting with relentless determination. While earning her associate’s degree and building a 25+ year career in the medical field, she rose to a management position through grit and grace, all while making sure her family always came first. She was the person you called when life got hard. With a heart that made room for everyone, Twana never hesitated to step in and help others through their darkest moments. She collected hobbies the way others collect memories-sewing, painting, beachcombing, crafting, exploring-if she set her mind to it, she made it happen. Her greatest passion was the ocean; she found peace in its waves and beauty in every tide.

Twana is survived by a large and loving family: her father Dennis Finley and his wife Cynthia Finley; her children Olivia Brown (and husband John Brown), Alex Dicken (and his girlfriend Katie Foxworthy), and Alicyn Sponsler; her step-sons Zack Mearna and Chris Mearna; her siblings Michael Groce, John Walter Finley, Ashley Anderson, Tiffany Finley, Allie-Jo Denise Finley, and Joshua Brinkley; her beloved grandchildren Mia Brown, Selah Brown, and Kayce Dicken; and her cherished dog, Joplin.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather’s Noel Finley and Hubert Norris, her grandmother Evelyn Finley, and her loving husband, Michael Mearna. Twana was a fighter. A dreamer. A mother. A friend. A storm and a safe harbor all in one. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the strength she passed down, and the love she gave so freely.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 6:00 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY. Family requests visitation on Saturday, May 10th from 3 P.M. till 6 PM. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home
