Joe Fred “Freddie” Short

Joe Fred “Freddie” Short, age 61, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky entered his eternal home on April 24, 2025.

He was born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky on July 26, 1963, to the late Alton & Ella (Abney) Short. He married Louise (Vibbert) Short on March 17, 1997, who survives.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was better known as Freddie or Uncle Bud but his most important title was PaPa. He retired from installing flooring for over 30 years, starting at the young age of 13.

He enjoyed dry land fish hunting, fishing, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, watching Bob Ross, Jeopardy and most of all scrolling through TikTok.

Freddie is survived by his wife Louise (Vibbert) Short, of Tompkinsville, KY; three daughters, Brittany Young (Tommy), of Tompkinsville, KY Renee Short (Joe), of Tompkinsville, KY; Tiffany Short (Donald), of Summer Shade, KY; one Son Cody Short (Taylor), of Tompkinsville, KY.  His grandchildren Emmy, Hunter, Paisley, Jase, Benjamin and Ella. Along with a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Nathaniel Young. 3 Sisters, Brenda Short Copas, JoAnn Short Copas & Carol Short Shirley; Nephew, Brian Copas and niece, Penny Vibbert.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Old Mt. Hermon Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday, 4-8 p.m., and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
