With heavy hearts we share James William Greenfield Sr., age 72 of Edmonton, Kentucky passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on July 16, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late George W. Greenfield, Jr. and Anita L. Greenfield Owsley, he lived a passionate life where he touched the hearts and lives of everyone he knew.
James was a graduate of Owensboro High School in Kentucky. He was a member of the US Army Reserves. He retired from AT&T where he worked most of his life as a line technician. A man of diverse interests, James enjoyed building computers, working on his BMW and Chevrolet truck but, most importantly though he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Psalm 115:3(KJV) But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his step-dad, William R. Owsley Sr.; two brothers, George W. Greenfield and William R. Owsley Jr.; three sisters, Joyce Anita Floyd(Jon), Gwendolyn Williams and Beverly Slaughter (Dorsey); two children Christopher Jackson and Tara Michelle Briskey, as well as four grandchildren, baby Greenfield-Gough, Hannibal Alexander Black, Scotty Black, and baby Ella Greenfield.
James is survived by Cecelia Greenfield and their children Scott Black (Angie), a daughter Tyson Greenfield Gough, and James William Greenfield Jr. (Lynette). Also survived by children Jarrett Jackson (Charna) and Mychael Templeton. His surviving siblings include two brothers, Richard Greenfield (Lou), Myron Greenfield (Valerie); two sisters, Audrey Henderson (George) and Willene Owsley Mattingly (Barry).
Surviving grandchildren include Latrell Black, Taniya Tinsley, Jansen Gough, James William Greenfield III, Jaeden Gough, Tyler Greenfield, Jaxon Greenfield, Tyson Greenfield, Grace Greenfield, Harper Black, and Phoenix Black. Also survived by more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
No funeral service or memorial will be held. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all of you for your prayers, presence, love, telephone calls, and all other expressions of concern during this time of bereavement.
