Martin Everett Killebrew

Martin Everett Killebrew, 79, of Bowling Green passed away peacefully at 3pm April 15, 2025, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Hopkinsville, Ky, on January 6, 1946, Martin was a loving husband, grandfather and friend known for his kindness.

A graduate of Hopkinsville High School, Martin furthered his education at Western Kentucky University, where he became a devoted supporter of Hilltopper athletics. He was an active member of Kiwanis, Crossland Community Church, and a dedicated participant in his bible study group. His commitment to community service was evident through his volunteer efforts with Hospice of Southern Ky and HOTEL, Inc. Martin was passionate about golfing, cooking, and above all being a loyal friend.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Isaac Killebrew and Ruth Lorraine Martin Killebrew; his wife of 38 years, Brenda Sue Killebrew; and his sister, Patricia Ruth Killebrew Polete.

Survivors include his loving wife of 11 years, Mary Jane; her son, Drew Hensley and his wife, Ginny, of Bowling Green. Her daughter, Anne-Walker Brown and her husband, Darren, of Nolensville, TN. Six grandchildren; Reed, Hope and Anne Michael Hensley & Hensley Anne, Farley Beth, and Emery Kate Brown. A loving sister-in-law, Lynda Johnson. A brother-in-law, Stanley Ray Polete. Two nephews; Sean Paul Polete and Jason Derek Polete. A niece, Jennifer Shannon Polete Bertram and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Martin will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 1pm at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or BGWC Humane Society.
