Students who attend schools in Barren County are eligible for three $1,000 scholarships courtesy of the Kentucky Chapter of Women in Rural Electrification.

To be eligible for the scholarships the applicant must be served by an electric cooperative, have completed one semester of college and have at least 60 credit hours by the end of the 2025 spring college term, be in good academic standing, and must attend a Kentucky higher-education institute.

The deadline to apply is June 6, 2025. Scholarship recipients will be notified in July.

Last year, Barren County resident and Farmers RECC member Todd Clemmons was a recipient of a W.I.R.E. scholarship.

The application can be found here.
