In order for the much anticipated Chick-fil-A to break ground, a zoning change must take place. The property which the franchise restaurant establishment would be placed in a zone as a “light industrial district.”
This designation prohibits restaurants from being constructed; An application has been submitted to have the property rezoned.
The property in question, where the franchise plans to build the popular, chicken eatery, is located 850 NL Rogers Wells Blvd. A plat for this development was filed with the Barren County Clerk’s office in mid-August. Since that time it’s been slow-going.
Kevin Myatt, Planning Director, is in favor of the rezoning, however, not without certain restrictions. For example, he hopes to maintain a “residential buffer” and lighting around the restaurant needs to meet specific criteria so as not to be a disturbance or detractor to neighboring residences.
Now that Myatt has made zoning recommendations, the next step is for the City of Glasgow to weigh in prior to the franchise submitting development plans.
At this time, there is no certain date for construction to begin.
