KSP releases new information about fatal collision on I-65

According to a release from Kentucky State Police:

At approximately 9:00 pm the Kentucky State Police, Post 03 received a call regarding a collision on Interstate 65 in Smiths Grove. Troopers responded to the scene at the 38 mile marker northbound.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a red Kia Forte operated by Anthony Hodge, 36, of Bowling Green was traveling northbound on Interstate 65. Due to rainy weather conditions Hodge’s vehicle began to hydroplane causing the vehicle to exit the roadway left and collide with the median wall. Hodge exited the vehicle in the center lane, where his vehicle came to a stop. Hodge was struck by a red 2025 Freightliner operated by Alexander Kipnis, 64, of Techumseh, OK who was traveling north. Hodge was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation will be led by Trooper Grant Robertson. He was assisted at the scene by Medical Center EMS, Warren County Coroner’s Office, and other KSP personnel.
