GLASGOW, KY – The Glasgow Independent School board met Monday evening. During the meeting, the board reviewed a video presentation from the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative, also known as GRREC about “Project Prevent”. The project began in 2019 to help students with social and emotional learning, and address key issues facing students throughout Kentucky. Since that time, the video showed teachers, students, and administrators discussing the benefits they have seen from the newer approach to “meeting kids where they are”. Katrina Ayres, Mental Health Coordinator for the district, spoke with WCLU News about the project.
Ayres received a long round of applause for her efforts and was given a certificate of appreciation by Kellie Thompson with GRREC at the board meeting, as well. Thompson told the board that she uses Ayres’ Project Prevent as a model for other school districts to follow.
