Don Holman Waddell

Don Holman Waddell, age 84, of Horse Cave, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024. He was a native of Hart county. He grew up on a farm in Three Springs, Kentucky. He was the youngest of five children, born to Lavora and Creal Waddell on February 19, 1940. Don was a Christian, husband, father, brother, and friend. He served as elder at Center Church of Christ for many years. He loved his family, farming and conservation. He loved life, especially when he could be outdoors or reading. He was a jokester and his grandchildren love to share stories and quotes from their grandfather.

As a young child at the age of five, Don lost his father. Times were tough, but it taught him responsibility, to be humble and appreciative of everything he had, no matter how little it was. He learned respect, morals, and strong Christian values. These are traits that he has passed down to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was deeply loved by his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters Wanda Weller and June Burks; his brother JC “Bub” Waddell.

Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Waddell; one sister, Jean Hedgepeth; his children Joy Bennett (Jim), Todd Waddell (Renee), Anissa Waddell (James Watkins), and Julie Hurt (Jason); ten grandchildren, Clay Moore (BreAnna), Dakota Waddell (Merrie), Ethan Moore (Amanda), Brianna Moore, Micah Waddell (Jaclyn) Kyla Stinson (Thomas), Connor Huff (Camby), Addison and Elaney Hurt, Angelina Goulbourne; nine great grandchildren, Layla, Olivia, Kason, Ryker, Greyson, Graham, Hallie, Vivy and Emery.

Funeral services will be held at Winn Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, April 5, 2024 and from 8:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday.
