Ruth Roach Stewart

Ruth Roach Stewart, 93, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 21, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. The Bowling Green native was the daughter of the late George Browder Roach and Sarah Jane Motley Roach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmie” Stewart; three brothers, George Browder Roach, Jr., Wallace Roach and John William Roach; and one sister, Martha Roach Baldock.

Mrs. Stewart was the longest serving member of Broadway United Methodist Church and also attended Faith Methodist Church. She was a member of the Broadway Small Group, YES Group and was a Founding Member of the Utopia Club.  She was member of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. Ruth was a graduate of Bowling Green High Class of 1948.  She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Stewart was a 20 year volunteer at The Medical Center of Bowling Green.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her son, Buster Stewart (Jan); two daughters, Sarah Stewart Richey (Bill) and Penney Stewart Baseheart; seven grandchildren, Holly Miller (Jason), Nick Stewart (Brittany),
Molly Druen (Eric), Haley Baseheart, Allison Baseheart, Angela Sharp (Scotty) and J.B. Bridgeman; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Broadway United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home on Monday, March 25 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at Broadway United Methodist Church from 12: 00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.

Memorial contributions may be made to Broadway United Methodist Church, Faith Methodist Church and Lost River Cave.
