Selling out in six minutes according to one attendee, the T.J Women’s Conference is an annual event celebrating women from around the area in business, home, and life in general.

The event this year sees Brenda Gantt, a cooking star famous for her “Cooking with Brenda” series on Facebook, speaking to the hundreds of women present.

Gantt spoke with WCLU on how events, like this one, are important to not just her but to all women.

Gantt, who’s originally from Alabama, also spoke on the woman that inspired her to start cooking was her mother, saying that since she was a child she had always had a place in the kitchen with her mom. Gantt recalls how she began skyrocketing to fame with a simple request from young men of her church to possible doing a cooking class, as their wives never had been instructed on proper culinary technique. At first, Gantt said, she didn’t think she’d have the time to take on something like teaching a cooking course, she did eventually upload a video of a biscuit recipe to her personal Facebook.
