GLASGOW – According to a press release from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8:00pm Sunday night, the BCSO along with other emergency agencies responded to the Skaggs Creek bridge on Matthews Mill Road in reference to a vehicle that traveled off the roadway and into the water.
A passenger in the vehicle, who was able to get out once the vehicle traveled into the water, stated that the 2013 Honda passenger car was operated by Kyle Ollig, 18, of Glasgow. The passenger said that as they were traveling near the bridge, Ollig somehow lost control of the vehicle causing it to travel off the roadway. The vehicle then went off a bluff embankment and into the creek.
Mr. Ollig was not able to get out of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
BCSO was assisted on scene by the Haywood Fire Department, Barren County Emergency Management and the Barren County Dive Team.
