An educator with family ties to Barren County has been named as State Regional Literacy Director for the Office of Teaching and Learning.  Tara Griffith spent time working in Curriculum Instruction and Assessment in the Barren County School System during her 24-year career in education.   She has recently been announced as a new State Regional Literacy Director.  She will serve mainly in the Jefferson County and OVEK regions.

She tells WCLU News, her focus will be on literacy for K-3rd graders.

Children who were at critical early development stages of education during the Covid-19 pandemic, are a target area for the state, as explained by Griffith here.

Griffith says Barren County holds a special place in her heart.  Her father and step-mom reside in Barren County, and her step-son works in the county, as well.  She also asked her former colleagues to reach out to her on early education literacy.
