WATCH: Patriots handle Trojans in district doubleheader; Trojanettes top Lady Patriots

SCOTTSVILLE – Allen County, led by junior guard, Robert Robledo (24 points), scored 58 points and shot 60% from the field to hand the Trojans their eighth loss on the season, 58-43. Meanwhile, Abigail Varney and the Trojanettes shot 40% from the three-point line and edged out a victory over the Lady Patriots, 60-57.

The Lady Patriots came out of the first quarter with a 19-12 lead after shooting 45% from field-goal range. However, the Trojanettes battled back in the second quarter, tying the game up at the half, 25-25. In the third quarter, ACS outscored Barren County 17-14 to take a 42-39 lead. After several made baskets and some clutch free throws from Katie Geralds, the Trojanettes picked up their 17th win on the year, 60-57.

In boys’ action, Allen County came out on fire, making a couple of three-point baskets and taking an early 14-11 lead at the end of the first. Meanwhile, the Trojans turned the second quarter into their show, outscoring ACS 18-13 and taking a 29-27 lead at the half. A tightly contested third quarter saw the Trojans come out on top with a 42-39 lead going into the fourth. However, after a poor performance in the fourth quarter by the Trojans, the Patriots regained their lead and never looked back, winning the game 58-43.
