Noble D. Ray, Jr.

Noble D. Ray, Jr., age 79, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away on January 9, 2024, at Baptist Health Louisville, surrounded by his loving family. In his final days, Noble received compassionate care from Hosparus of Louisville, where he found comfort and support.

Noble was born on May 11, 1944, in Murray, Kentucky. He shared 56 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sherry Ray, whom he married on November 18, 1967. Sherry was the love of his life, and their bond was unbreakable. Noble is also survived by his children, Shannon Rippy Harrison (and son Denton Rippy) and Dr. Jonathan Ray (with wife Michelle and children Grace, Haley, Riley, and Brady). Noble cherished his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his family meant everything to him.

Noble served his country with honor and courage in the US Army during the Vietnam War. His bravery and selflessness were recognized by the award of The Bronze Star Medal for engaging in battle and being wounded while behind enemy lines. His dedication to duty was an inspiration to all who knew him.

After his military service, Noble continued his commitment to public service with the Kentucky State Police, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant Detective. Even after retiring, Noble’s sense of duty remained strong, and he continued to serve with the Warren County Drug Task Force and the State Attorney General’s Office.

Noble will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of courage, dedication, and love will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 12 noon, with visitation 8:30 am until time of services at J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery #2.
