Sep 28, 2023 | 8:24 AM

Robert “Wayne” McCubbins, age 87 of Louisville, Kentucky (formerly of Green County), passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Green County, Kentucky, where he met his wife of 70 years, Shirley McCubbins, at church.

Wayne worked for Wehr Construction in his early career, then he started his own successful business, McCubbins Home Improvement. He worked for himself for many years until retirement. It was at that time that he found a new love for golf and spending time with his family and grandchildren at Nolin Lake. When they weren’t traveling to far away golf courses, they spent time at their second home at the lake.

Many memories were made on his boat that he kept immaculate, tubing and skiing. He was a lifelong member of Brush Creek Baptist Church, but for many years he attended Arcade Baptist. He was always making everyone laugh and loved being silly with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ivo and Mallie Estes McCubbins; his two brothers, William and Ray McCubbins; and his sister, Mary Sue Evans. He was also preceded in death by his wife Shirley McCubbins.

He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Gay; his grandchildren, Aaron Gay (Amanda) and Sarah Gay; great grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, and Jaxson; and many nieces and nephews.
